Chairman Succession at Rambus

Technology licensing specialist Rambus announced that Bruce Dunlevie, 54, has stepped down as Chairman and from the board. Thomas Bentley, 61, a Director since 2005 assumes the role of Chair. Bentley served as MD for SVB Alliant, an M&A firm which he co-founded in 1990.

Finance Executive Joins Fairchild Board

Terry Klebe, 56, the former SVP & CFO of Cooper Industries, joined the Board of Fairchild Semiconductor. Klebe served as Vice Chairman for Cooper after his retirement in 2010. Prior to becoming CFO, Klebe held senior executive management roles at Cooper in information technology, operations, and finance. Before Cooper, he was a partner with professional services firm Ernst & Young.

Entegris Selects Diplomat For its Board

Materials integrity management expert Entegris announced that former U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Burns, 55, has joined its Board of Directors. He is currently serving as Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Also, he currently is Director of the Aspen Strategy Group, a Senior Counselor at the Cohen Group, and an Advisory Board member for Veracity Worldwide. Burns served in the US Foreign Service for around twenty-seven years until his retirement in 2008. Prior to that, Ambassador Burns served as State Department Spokesman for Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Warren. He also spent five years at the White House as a member of the National Security Council staff on Soviet and then Russian affairs.

New Americas Head for China-based SMIC

Semiconductor Manufacturing International, China's largest and most advanced semiconductor foundry, announced that Michael Rekuc, 60, has been appointed as President of SMIC Americas, a division which represents around 55% of SMIC's total global business. Rekuc joins SMIC from Grace Semiconductor, where he was President of Grace Semiconductor USA. Prior to this, he was SVP of Sales & Marketing and President of the Americas region at Chartered Semiconductor. Before joining Chartered, Rekuc was with VP and Global Sales Director of Motorola’s World Wide Wireless Subscribers Group.

Engineering Executive at Blue Chip Company Promoted to COO

Silicon Laboratories, a communication chips company, announced the promotion of Tyson Tuttle to SVP & COO. Tuttle joined Silicon Laboratories in 1997 as a Senior Design Engineer and helped to develop the company's first product, a silicon direct access arrangement (DAA). While serving as VP & GM of the company's Broadcast business unit, he also contributed to the definition and development of the company's innovative silicon TV tuner. He was promoted to CTO in 2010. Prior to Silicon Labs, Tuttle held senior design engineering and management positions at Cirrus Logic and Broadcom.

New Divison Head at Intersil

Optical input manufacturer Intersil announced that Andrew Cowell has joined the company in the newly created position of SVP, Consumer Products Group. Most recently, Andrew spent the last four years as VP of Analog Marketing at Micrel Semiconductor. Prior to this position, Andrew held a variety of technical, marketing, and applications management roles at Micrel and Siliconix. Andrew began his career as a design engineer at Advanced Power Supplies.

OmniVision Gets Back a Senior Executive

Hasan Gadjali re-joined OmniVision Technologies as VP of Worldwide Marketing & BD. In his previous role with OmniVision, Hasan led business unit that focused on emerging markets. In the interim, Gadjali served as VP of the Advanced Products Business Unit at computer hardware company 3DLabs.

ABB and GE Exec is New CCO at Trina

Photovoltaic module producer Trina Solar announced that Mark Kingsley has been appointed to the new position of Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to joining the Company, he served as SVP & Head of ABB Robotics' business unit. Before that, he was the CMO at GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies and a member of GE's corporate marketing council.

HP CTO for Server on LSI Team

Network storage solutions provider LSI announced the appointment of Greg Huff to the newly created position of SVP, Corporate Strategy. Huff comes to LSI from HP, where he was VP & CTO of the HP Industry Standard Server division. Prior to that, Huff served as R&D Director for the HP Superdome product family.

Patents Pro Changes Companies

Management and investment advisory firm Acacia Research announced that Curtis Dodd has joined as VP, he was earlier serving as VP, Patents & Counsel at Wi-LAN. Before Wi-LAN, Dodd was Intellectual Property Counsel at Nortel Networks. While at Nortel, he had a close working relationship with the 4G standards team and was named as inventor on two applications. Dodd started his career as a member of a high tech patent litigation group at Gowling Lafleur Henderson.

Promotions at Mellanox

Mellanox Technologies announced the promotion of Ayelet Margalit-Ilovich to VP of Quality & Reliability. Prior to joining Mellanox in 2006, she worked at Tower Semiconductors as a Director of Fab1 Process, Device, and Yield Engineering.

Shai Cohen, 47, co-founder and former VP of Operations and Engineering, has been named COO. Prior to Mellanox, Cohen worked as a Senior Staff Member in the Pentium processors department at Intel.

Mellanox also announced the promotion of Matthew Gloss to General Counsel. Before joining Mellanox in 2008, Gloss served as VP of legal affairs and General Counsel for Marvell Semiconductor.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
