Verizon Veteran Leaves Company

President Robert Woltz has retired after spending over 40 years with the company. Woltz began his telecommunications career in 1971 with C&P Telephone of Virginia and went on to assume senior executive positions with Bell Atlantic. Woltz currently serves on the boards of the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy, the VCU School of Engineering, the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education, the Governor’s Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates, and the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges. 

Primus Telecommunications Recruits CFO

Primus, a long distance telephony service provider, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Ken Schwarz, 58, as CFO. Prior to joining PTGi, he served as President of Simplexity, a provider of wireless services and devices. He has previously served as CFO of InPhonic and President of Intersections. Before joining Intersections, he was SVP of Finance and IT for WinStar Telecommunications and held executive positions at Cable & Wireless, Unitel Communications, and MCI Communications. Schwarz is a C.P.A. and worked as an audit manager with Deloitte & Touche earlier in his career.

CFO Leaves Australia’s Leading Telecommunications Carrier

Telstra's veteran CFO John Stanhope has announced his retirement. Stanhope is Telstra’s longest serving executive and will retire after spending 43 years with the company.

Bell Canada Enterprise Gets New Board Member and Division Heads

Martine Turcotte has been appointed to the new role of Vice Chair of the Québec region. Turcotte started at Bell in 1988 as Legal Counsel, became Chief Legal Officer in 1999, and was promoted to Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer in 2008.

Tom Little has been selected to lead Bell Business Markets. Little has previously served at companies such as Ernst & Young, VenGrowth Capital Funds, OMD, and VisualSonics.

The Board of Directors of BCE also announced the appointment of The Honourable Jim Prentice, P.C., Q.C., 55, as a Director of BCE & Bell Canada. Prentice currently serves as Senior EVP and Vice Chairman of CIBC. First elected to the House of Commons for Calgary Centre-North in 2004, Prentice served in a variety of Cabinet posts including Minister of Industry and Chair of the Operations Committee. As Minister of the Environment, he was Canada's principal intermediary with the U.S. Energy Information Administration.  

Vodafone Qatar Hires CEO & CFO

Vodafone Qatar announced that Richard Daly has been appointed as its new CEO. Daly previously served as CEO of Vodafone Partner Markets, COO of Vodafone Egypt, and CEO of Vodafone Egypt.

Also, the company has selected Steve Walters as the new CFO. Most recently, Walters served as the interim Head of Finance for Vodafone Essar. Walters joined Vodafone in 2000. 

Brocade Communications Promotes VP of Global Services to VP of Finance & CFO

Brocade Communications Systems, a storage networking products company, has appointed Daniel Fairfax, 55, as its VP of Finance and CFO. Fairfax has previously served at Brocade as the VP of Global Services and VP of Business Operations. Prior to Brocade, he held the titles of VP of Finance, Principal Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller, and CFO at Foundry Networks.

Former BMC Exec Joins CommVault

Bob Carapezzi has joined the company as the new Director of Professional Services for the Americas. Most recently, he served as the Northeastern Area Professional Services Director for BMC Software. Prior to BMC, Carapezzi held professional services management roles for companies including Pillar Data Systems, Veritas (now Symantec), and Informix.
