Intel Selects New Vice Chairman
Intel announced the appointment of Andy Bryant, 61, as Vice Chairman, a newly created position on its Board. This move is designed to help facilitate Bryant’s eventual transition to the role of Chairman when Jane Shaw, the current Chairman, retires in 2012. Bryant joined Intel in 1981 and has since served as CFO, Chief Administrative Officer, and EVP. Also, he currently serves on the boards of McKesson, Columbia Sportswear, and Kryptiq.
Rambus, a computer memory chip maker, announced the appointment of David Stork as the new Research Director of Rambus Labs. His honors include being named a Fellow by the International Association for Pattern Recognition. Over the course of his career, Dr. Stork has held many corporate research and academic positions, resulting in 40 patented inventions and the publication of numerous books and journal articles.
SMIC Names New CEO
Semiconductor Manufacturing International has elected Dr. Tzu-Yin Chiu to the position of CEO. Prior to joining SMIC, he was President and CEO of Shanghai Hua Hong NEC Electronics Company, VP & COO of Shanghai Huali Microelectronics, President & COO of Silterra Malaysia, SVP & COO of Shanghai Hua Hong International Management, President of Shanghai Hua Hong Semiconductor International, SVP of Shanghai Operations at Semiconductor Manufacturing International, and Senior Director of Fab Operations at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing.
TriQuint Hires Division VP
TriQuint Semiconductor, a leading RF solutions supplier and technology innovator, announced that it hired James Klein as VP and GM of its Defense and Aerospace business. Prior to joining TriQuint, Klein served as the GM of Raytheon’s Advanced Products Center. He has also held various senior executive roles at Texas Instruments.

CEO Departure at Logitech
Logitech announced that Gerald Quindlen, 51, has resigned from his roles as President, CEO, & a member of the company’s Board. Before his stint as President & CEO, Quindlen served as Logitech’s SVP of Worldwide Sales & Marketing. Chairman of the Board Guerrino De Luca, 58, has stepped in as acting President & CEO until a permanent replacement can be found. Prior to being appointed as Chairman, De Luca served as President & CEO from 1998 to 2008. Before joining Logitech, De Luca was EVP of Worldwide Marketing at Apple and President of Claris Corporation.
Military Computer Systems Company Hires Board Member for its Subsidiary
Mercury Computer Systems announced that Admiral Edmund Giambastiani, the former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was elected to the Board of Directors of Mercury Federal Systems. A career nuclear submarine officer, Giambastiani has commanded Submarine NR-1, USS Richard B. Russell, and Submarine Development Squadron 12. Giambastiani excelled in numerous other shore and staff assignments with the U.S. Navy, the CIA, the Department of Defense, and NATO.
CTO Leaves Cray
Cray, a supercomputer designer and manufacturer, announced that CTO Steve Scott, 45, is leaving the company to become CTO at NVIDIA. Scott joined Cray Research in 1992 as a Senior Architecture Engineer. Before becoming CTO in 2004, he served as a Corporate Scientist and Chief Architect for the company.

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.
Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years. Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.
Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.
Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.
She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
