We are seeking an Executive Director for the Enterprise Data Group (EDG) for a leading investment bank. The investment bank has set up a development center in Montreal, Canada and has and continues to transfer key aspects of development to the center.

The Enterprise Data Group currently consists of 40 people and is expected to grow. EDG is a key building block to the foundation by providing stable, resilient and scalable platforms for data.

The EDG lead will (1) Operate at a strategic and tactical levels (2) Provide guidance to project teams while collaborating with the bank’s Wall Street relevant leads (3) Manage and refine the operating model by defining standards, processes and governance for the team, and (3) Actively recruit & retain top talent

Requirements for the role:

  • Strategic & Operational Technology Management: 10+ years experience in a senior management lead role managing technology application development.
  • Size of Teams: Experience managing application development groups of at least 40 people
  • Technology Expertise: Our client has very technical executive management. This executive must be able to be hands on, in spite of the span of control.
  • Enterprise Data Applications Development
  • Industry Experience: Financial Services, preferably Investment Banking Industry experience
  • Location is Montreal: this executive is either already in Montreal or can relocate there.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
