Verizon named Melanie Healey, 50, to its Board. Currently, Healey serves at Procter & Gamble as Group President of North America and Global Hyper, Super, Mass Channel. She also serves on the boards of P&G, Verizon, and Bacardi. Since joining P&G in 1990, she has held senior roles in the Feminine, Healthcare, and Adult Care divisions. Healey was named one of Forbes’ Top 50 Most Powerful Women Leaders and one of Wall Street Journal’s Top 50 Women to Watch.

U.S. Bancorp Adds to Board

U.S. Bancorp has appointed Doreen Woo Ho, 64, to its Board. Currently, Ho is Commissioner of the San Francisco Port Commission, the governing board responsible for the SF waterfront. She also serves as a board member for C100, the Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund, and the San Francisco Opera. Most recently, Ho was the President & CEO of United Commercial Bank. Before United Commercial Bank, she was President of the Consumer Credit Group at Wells Fargo. Ho also served for over 20 years at Citibank, most recently as the SVP of National Business Banking.

Eli Lilly Appoints Harvard Professor

Eli Lilly has elected Dr. Katherine Baicker, a Professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, to serve on its Board. She is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and an elected member of the Institute of Medicine. Prior to her current position at Harvard, Baicker served as a Member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers from 2005 to 2007. She currently serves on the editorial boards of Health Affairs, the Journal of Health Economics, and the Forum for Health Economics and Policy. She is also Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at AcademyHealth and a Commissioner of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission.

Former Google and Microsoft Employee on Board at Starbucks

Starbucks has appointed Clara Shih to serve on the company’s Board. She is the CEO of Hearsay Social, an enterprise social media software firm. In the past, Shih has served as a Director of AppExchange Product Line Management at salesforce.com, as a Strategy and Business Operations Executive at Google, and as a Software Engineer at Microsoft. She also developed Faceconnector, the first business application on Facebook, and authored “The Facebook Era: Tapping Social Networks to Market, Sell, and Innovate.”

Former Logitech CFO on Seagate Board

Seagate Technology, a leading manufacturer of hard disks and storage solutions, has appointed Kristen Onken, 62, to its Board. Most recently, she served as CFO of Logitech International. Prior to Logitech, Onken was the VP of Finance at Fujitsu and Director of Finance at Sun Microsystems. She currently serves on the Board of Silicon Laboratories.

Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Adds to Board

ViroPharma has elected Julie H. McHugh, 47, to its Board. Currently, McHugh is the COO of Endo Pharmaceuticals, a specialty healthcare solutions company. Prior to joining Endo, she was the CEO of Nora Therapeutics, a biotech company focused on the treatment of infertility disorders. Earlier in her career, she was Group Chairman for Johnson & Johnson's Worldwide Virology Business Unit and also served as President of Centocor, a J&J subsidiary. She currently serves on the boards of the Biotechnology Industry Association (BIO), New England Health Institute (NEHI), and the Nathaniel Adamczyk Foundation.

Real Estate Investment Trust Names New Board Member

DCT Industrial Trust has appointed Marilyn Alexander, 59, to its Board.  She currently serves on the Board at Tutor Perini, a major U.S. construction company. Most recently, Alexander was SVP & CFO of The Disneyland Resort in California. She also served as VP of Destination Marketing & Brand Management and as VP of Finance at The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Before joining Disney, Alexander was VP of Financial Planning & Analysis at Marriott. Earlier in her career, she served on the boards of Equity Office Properties (EOP) and New Century Financial.

New Director at Customer Management Solutions Provider

Convergys has elected Joan Herman, 57, to the company’s Board. Currently, she serves as the CEO of Herman & Associates, a healthcare and management consulting firm. Prior to founding Herman & Associates, she was the CEO of WellPoint's Consumer Business Unit. Before Wellpoint, Herman spent around 16 years at Phoenix Life Insurance and eventually served as the SVP of Strategic Development. Herman currently sits on the Board of Directors of MRV Communications.

Susan Bowick, 62, has joined the Board of Verint Systems. She currently serves on the Board of Verint’s parent company, Comverse Technology. She also serves as a Director at EarthLink. Bowick has extensive experience as a consultant, including work with IBM, Nokia Siemens, HP, and SAP. Prior to her work as a consultant, she served in various executive roles at HP, most recently as the EVP of HR & Workforce Development.
