Former IBM GM on Biopharma Board

Celgene has elected Dr. Richard Barker to its Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as the Director General of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI). Earlier in his career, Barker was the CEO of Chiron Diagnostics, a biopharma company specializing in vaccines and blood testing. Before joining Chiron, he served as the GM of IBM's Worldwide Healthcare Solutions Division and as a Leader of McKinsey & Company's European Healthcare Practice.

Telecom CEO Named Chair of Auto Parts Manufacturer

Autoliv has elected Lars Nyberg, 60, as Chairman. He has been on Autoliv’s Board since 2004. Nyberg is the CEO of TeliaSonera, a leading Nordic and Baltic telecom company. He is also the Chairman of DataCard, a manufacturer of card printers. Earlier in his career, Nyberg served as the Chairman & CEO of NCR and held several managerial positions at Philips.

Former Governor Joins Oil & Gas Exploration Company

Continental Resources appointed former North Dakota Governor Ed Schafer, 65, to its Board. Schafer was elected North Dakota's 30th governor in 1992 and served for two terms. In 2008, he was nominated and confirmed as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. During his term as governor, Schafer also served as Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, which is comprised of all energy-producing states. Before his political service, he was the President of Gold Seal, a distributor of household products. Schafer was also the co-founder and CEO of Extend America, a telecommunications company focused on rural connectivity in the Midwest.

Cisco SVP Joins Moody’s Board

Moody's, a leading credit rating company, announced that Kathy Hill, 55, has been elected to its Board of Directors. She will also serve as a member of the Governance & Compensation Committee and Audit Committee. Currently, Hill is the SVP of Development Strategy & Operations at Cisco Systems. Prior to joining Cisco, she served as VP of Ascend Communications and held senior engineering management positions at Newbridge Networks and Hughes Network Systems. Hill is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.

Chairman of IT Management Company Joins Pharma Board

Taro Pharmaceutical Industries announced that Dov Pekelman has joined its Board. Pekelman is currently the Chairman & CEO of Atera Networks, a cloud IT management provider. He also serves as a director at Makhteshim Agan Industries, an agrochemical manufacturer and distributer. In the past, Pekelman was a Senior Consultant to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. He has also served on the Board of Directors at Koor Industries and was a member of the Advisory Committee at the Bank of Israel.

Telecom Services CEO Lands on Board of Financial Holdings Company

Umpqua Holdings announced that it has appointed Dudley Slater to its Board of Directors. Slater most recently served as the CEO of Integra Telecom, a company he co-founded in 1996. Prior to Integra, he served as Principal of Rural Link Communications, an investment firm that provided funding and management services to telecommunications companies. Slater was awarded the 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Northwest Region by E&Y.

Oracle SVP on D&B Board

Dun & Bradstreet, a leading supplier of business information services, announced that Douglas Kehring was elected to its Board of Directors. Currently, Kehring is SVP of Corporate Development & Strategic Planning for Oracle, the world's largest enterprise software company and a leading provider of computer hardware products and services. Prior to joining Oracle, he was an Associate at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and RBC Dain Rauscher.

GameStop Lands Ex-Microsoft Talent

GameStop, a video game retail company, announced the appointment of Shane Kim, 48, to its Board of Directors. Kim is a video game industry veteran who has spent the majority of his career at Microsoft. Most recently, he served as Corporate VP for the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) division. While at Microsoft, Kim led the delivery of some of the industry's most renowned franchises including Halo, Gears of War, Fable, and Forza Motorsport as well as the innovative Xbox LIVE technology. Since retiring in 2010, he has actively advised several technology and digital media companies.

Michael R. Cannon, 58 has been elected to Lam Research Corp's board of directors. Mr. Cannon retired from Dell Corporation after serving as Dell's president of global operations. Prior to his Dell experience, he was chief executive officer of Solectron, and president and CEO of Maxtor. His past management experience includes vice president roles at IBM storage systems division, AdStar, as well as Control Data Corporation and The Boeing Company.
