New Head of Sales & CPO at AOL

AOL has promoted Jim Norton to Head of Sales. He joined AOL in 2009 as the SVP of AOL Advertising’s Advance Sales team. Prior to AOL, he was the National Sales Manager for Google’s Agency Activation team. Norton has also served as a Sales Manager at Tribune Broadcasting's WLVI-TV (Boston's WB) and has held a series of marketing positions at the Miller Brewing Company.

Microsoft Adds to Windows Phone Team

Microsoft has promoted Andrew Lees to President of Windows Phone and Windows 8. In the past, he has served as Corporate VP of the Microsoft Server & Tools Marketing and Solutions Group. Prior to joining the Server & Tools Group, Lees held a variety of different roles within the Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Services Group. He joined Microsoft in 1990 and spent 10 years at Microsoft U.K.

Cisco Hires SVP for New Division

Cisco announced that it has hired Chris Young to serve as SVP of the newly formed Cisco Security Group. Young comes to Cisco from VMware, where he was the SVP & GM of End User Computing. At VMware, he was responsible for strategy, products, engineering, and delivery for all end user computing solutions. Prior to joining VMware, Young was SVP at RSA, the security division of EMC. He also sits on the Board of Directors for Rapid 7, a provider of security risk intelligence solutions.

CEO Assumes Chairman Role at Verizon; New Board Member Elected


Verizon has confirmed that CEO Lowell McAdam, 56, has replaced Ivan Seidenberg, 65, as Chairman of the Board. Before becoming CEO, McAdam held the titles of COO of Verizon and EVP, COO, and CEO of Verizon Wireless. Prior to joining Verizon, he was the CEO of Primeco, a wireless joint venture between AirTouch and Bell Atlantic.

Former Governor Joins Oil & Gas Exploration Company

Continental Resources appointed former North Dakota Governor Ed Schafer, 65, to its Board. Schafer was elected North Dakota's 30th governor in 1992 and served for two terms. In 2008, he was nominated and confirmed as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. During his term as governor, Schafer also served as Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, which is comprised of all energy-producing states. Before his political service, he was the President of Gold Seal, a distributor of household products. Schafer was also the co-founder and CEO of Extend America, a telecommunications company focused on rural connectivity in the Midwest.

JP Morgan Exec on Philip Morris Board

Philip Morris International named Kalpana Morparia, 58, to its Board of Directors. Currently, Morparia serves as JP Morgan’s India CEO. She also sits on the board of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, an integrated global pharma company, and CMC, a leading Indian systems engineering and integration company. Before joining JP Morgan, Morparia was MD of ICICI Bank, India’s second largest bank. She also served as Vice Chair of ICICI’s Insurance and Asset Management Business. She was named one of "The 50 Most Powerful Women in International Business" by Fortune Magazine in 2008.

New CMO at Booking.com

The Priceline Group has promoted Paul Hennessy, 47, to Chief Marketing Officer of Booking.com from his current role as Chief Distribution Officer. Before being named Chief Distribution Officer, he was VP of Rental Cars. Prior to joining Priceline, he was Head of Consumer Marketing at Omnipoint Communications, a wireless network operator. Earlier in his career, Hennessy was GM of Marketing at PT Excelcomindo Pratama, a Verizon joint venture based in Indonesia.

Apple has appointed Arthur Levinson, 61, as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board. Levinson, a molecular biologist, is the Chairman & former CEO of Genentech. He has been on the Apple Board since 2000 and has been the Co-Lead Director since 2005. Levinson also serves on the board of Roche, Amyris, and NGM Biopharmaceuticals.

Allscripts Recruits Former Kodak Exec to its Board

Allscripts, a healthcare management software provider, announced that Catherine Burzik, 59, has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Currently, she is the President & CEO of Kinetic Concepts, a leading medical technology company. Before joining Kinetic Concepts, she served as President of Applied Biosystems Group and as SVP of Applera. Burzik has also worked at Kodak, where she held various operations and marketing positions during her 20 year tenure. She currently serves as a board member at KCI, the San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and AdvaMed.
