CenturyLink announced the resignation of Edward Mueller, 64, from the company’s Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as the Chairman & CEO of Qwest, a telecommunications carrier which was acquired by CenturyLink in 2010. Before Qwest, Mueller served as the CEO of Williams-Sonoma. Prior to joining Williams-Sonoma, he held a variety of executive level positions with several telecom companies, including Ameritech, SBC International Operations, Pacific Bell, and Southwestern Bell Telephone. Mueller currently serves as a director at The Clorox Company and McKesson. Earlier in his career, he served as a Director of GSC Acquisition Company, Verisign, and Williams-Sonoma.

Academic Joins the Board at Pfizer
Pfizer has elected Dr. Helen Hobbs, 59, to its Board. She is an Investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Molecular Genetics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She also serves on the Board of the McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development. Hobbs is the recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Heart Association.

P&G Veteran on Verizon Board
Verizon named Melanie Healey, 50, to its Board. Currently, Healey serves at Procter & Gamble as Group President of North America and Global Hyper, Super, Mass Channel. She also serves on the boards of P&G, Verizon, and Bacardi. Since joining P&G in 1990, she has held senior roles in the Feminine, Healthcare, and Adult Care divisions. Healey was named one of Forbes’ Top 50 Most Powerful Women Leaders and one of Wall Street Journal’s Top 50 Women to Watch.

CEO Assumes Chairman Role at Verizon; New Board Member Elected
Verizon has confirmed that CEO Lowell McAdam, 56, has replaced Ivan Seidenberg, 65, as Chairman of the Board. Before becoming CEO, McAdam held the titles of COO of Verizon and EVP, COO, and CEO of Verizon Wireless. Prior to joining Verizon, he was the CEO of Primeco, a wireless joint venture between AirTouch and Bell Atlantic.
