Sybase announced that the company has appointed John Sims as President of its mobile services business, Sybase 365. Sims joins Sybase from 724 Solutions, a mobile broadband products company where he spent almost a decade as CEO. He was also co-founder, CEO, and President of TANTAU Software, a global provider of secure, mobile eCommerce solutions to enterprises. Prior to co-founding TANTAU, John served as COO of SCC Communications, a telecommunications support service company. He has also held several management positions at Tandem Computers and at Burroughs Corporation.

CA Technologies announced that Richard Beckert, 49, has been promoted to EVP & CFO. Beckert is succeeding Nancy Cooper, 56, who recently announced her retirement.
