New Board Member at Motorola

Motorola has selected Kenneth Dahlberg to be a member on its Board. In the past, Dahlberg has served as Chairman and CEO of Science Applications International and as EVP of General Dynamics. Prior to General Dynamics, he was the President and COO of Raytheon Systems. He is currently a director of Teledyne Technologies and Parsons. Additionally, he is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Surface Navy Association, the Association of the US Army, and a lifetime member of the US Navy League.

Board Member Resigns from F5 Networks

F5 Networks announced that John Chapple, 57, has resigned from its Board. Chapple is the President of Hawkeye Investments, a privately owned equity firm which invests primarily in telecommunications and real estate ventures. Prior to forming Hawkeye, he served as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board at Nextel Partners and as EVP of Operations at AT&T Wireless Services. Currently, Chapple is the chairman of the board at Cellular One Group, Syracuse University, and the Personal Communications Industry Association.

New Board Member at Synopsys

Synopsys, a leader in electronic design automation, announced the appointment of Chrysostomos Nikias, 58, to its Board of Directors. Currently, Dr. Nikias is the President of the University of Southern California, a position he has held since 2010. He is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Prior to his appointment as President of USC, Nikias served as USC's Provost and Chief Academic Officer. Nikias has also worked as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Defense.

CEO Leaves SMIC; Non-Executive Director Promoted to Chairman & Acting CEO

Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC) announced that Zhang Wenyi has been appointed as the Chairman and Executive Director of the company. The Board also announced that Wenyi has been appointed as the acting CEO while the search for a permanent CEO continues. These moves are in response to the resignation of the company’s current CEO David Wang, 64. Wenyi previously served as a non-executive director at the company, a position which is now vacant.

Allscripts Chairman on Progress Board

Progress Software, an infrastructure software company, has appointed Philip Pead, 58, to its Board. Pead is currently the Chairman of the Board at Allscripts and a member of the Board at Emdeon. Previously, Pead has served as the President and CEO of Eclipsys, a leading provider of enterprise clinical and financial software for hospitals which merged with Allscripts in 2010. Earlier in his career, Pead worked for Per-Se Technologies, Dun & Bradstreet, and Attachmate.

CRM Company Gets New Board Member

Verint Systems announced that Richard Nottenburg, 57, has been elected to its Board of Directors. Nottenburg is currently a director of Comverse Technology. He has previously served as President & CEO of Sonus Networks and in various executive functions at Motorola. He also serves as a director of Aeroflex Holding.
