Staples Promotes SVP of Information Systems to CIO
Staples announced the promotion of Christine Putur to CIO. Putur joined Staples in 1999 and has since held various leadership roles on the company's e-commerce, technology strategy, and program management teams. She most recently served as SVP of Information Systems for the company's North American Delivery businesses.
CIO Set to Retire at SunTrust
SunTrust, a major bank located in the Southeastern United States, announced that CIO Timothy Sullivan, 60, has decided to retire in 2012. Prior to joining SunTrust in 2003, Sullivan was CIO at Interstate Bank, EVP and Group Technology Executive at Wells Fargo, and CIO at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan First. He also serves on the Board of Viewpointe Archive Services and is Chairman of the Board of BITS, a division of the Financial Services Roundtable. SunTrust is launching an external search for a successor.
Real Estate Services Provider Promotes Technology Exec
UGL Services announced that Jeffrey Peterson has been appointed as CIO of the company. Peterson has been with UGL since 1998 and most recently served as CIO for North America. Before UGL, he was the Global Director of Technology Services at Arthur Andersen.
New EVP of Technology at Bank Holding Company
Western Alliance Bancorporation announced that Dennis Rygwalski has been named EVP of Technology and Operations. Prior to joining Western Alliance, Rygwalski was SVP & CTO at Bank of Oklahoma Financial and GM of Financial Industry Product Development at the Exigen Group. Earlier in his career, he served as EVP & CIO of Fleet Boston Financial.
Retail Company Loses its CIO
Jon Kubo, the CIO & SVP of E-Commerce at The Wet Seal, has resigned from his position. Prior to The Wet Seal, Kubo held a variety of positions at FAO Schwarz, including EVP, Chief Administration Officer, SVP, and CIO.

Wells Fargo announced that Kevin Rhein, 57, has been promoted to CIO & Senior EVP of the Technology and Operations Group. In addition to his new responsibilities, Rhein will continue to serve as a member of the Wells Fargo Operating Committee and Fair Lending Committee. Prior to being promoted, he was the EVP of Wells Fargo's Card Services and Consumer Lending group.

Dora Vell
Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
