HP announced that it has appointed Gregg Melinson as Deputy General Counsel & VP of Global Government Affairs. From 1990 to 1995, Melinson was an Associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath. Following this appointment, he was Deputy General Counsel to Governor Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania for two years before rejoining Drinker Biddle & Reath in 1997. He has been with the company ever since and most recently served as Chief Marketing Partner.
Symantec Names New Chairman
Symantec's Board of Directors has appointed Stephen Bennett, 56, as Chairman of the Board. Bennett has been a Director at Symantec since early last year. Before Symantec, Bennett served as President & CEO of Intuit. He joined Intuit from GE, where he held senior management roles in divisions such as the GE Capital e-Business, GE Capital Vendor Financial Services, GE Appliances, and GE Medical Systems. Prior to GE, Bennett served as the CEO of Orbitz, SwissAir, and Alta Vista. He currently serves on the boards of American Airlines, AMR, Qualcomm, and Vertafore.
Division SVP Leaves Adobe
Robert Tarkoff, 42, the SVP of the Digital Enterprise Solutions business unit at Adobe Systems, has resigned from his position to pursue other opportunities. Prior to joining Adobe, he worked at EMC Software as the SVP and GM of the Captiva Software Division. Tarkoff joined EMC from Documentum, an enterprise content management company, where he served as EVP and Chief Strategy Officer. Before that, he was SVP of Worldwide Business Development at Commerce One, a provider of business-to-business e-commerce solutions.
New Member Elected to PTC Board
PTC announced the appointment of Thomas Bogan, 59, to its Board of Directors. Bogan currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Citrix Systems, a leading enterprise software infrastructure company, and as a Venture Partner with Greylock Partners. At Greylock, Bogan focuses on enterprise software startup companies such as Apptio, iConclude, Mazu, and Rally Software. Before Greylock, Bogan was President of Rational Software, an enterprise software company which was sold to IBM in 2003.
CEO Leaves Progress; Regional VP Appointed
Progress Software announced that President & CEO Richard Reidy, 51, has resigned from his positions. He joined the company in 1985 and was appointed as the CEO and a Director on the Board in 2009. He will continue to serve on the company's Board of Directors until his successor is selected. Reidy also serves as a Director at Zipboard and as a Member of the Board of Trustees at Boston University.
Dan Veitkus has been elected to the position of EMEA VP & GM. Prior to joining Progress Software, Veitkus was EMEA VP & GM of Channels and Alliances for Novell, a provider of infrastructure software. Before this position, he held other senior global leadership roles at Novell, including VP of Global Field Operations and VP of Global Certification and Training Services. Veitkus joined Novell from Telcordia Technologies, where he served as Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Customer Support for the Global Learning Services business unit.
Former CA Exec Lands at Saba
Saba announced the appointment of Jayesh Thakkar to the position of Country Manager for India. Prior to joining Saba, he was CEO of C&S System Technologies, an IT solutions provider. Before C&S, Thakkar was a Consulting Director at CA Technologies and a Senior Tech Manager at CMS Computers.
