Apple Appoints SVP, Retail
Apple has named John Browett as the company’s new SVP of Retail. Before this appointment, he served as the CEO of Dixons Retail. Prior to joining Dixons, he held several executive positions at Tesco, including CEO of Tesco.com. Earlier in his career, he advised retail and consumer goods clients at the Boston Consulting Group.

CIO Appointed at Intel
Kim Stevenson, the GM & VP of IT Operations and Services, has been named as the company’s new CIO. Prior to joining Intel, Stevenson served at EDS as the VP of the Worldwide Communications, Media, and Entertainment Industry Practice. While at EDS, she also served as the VP of Enterprise Service Management and as the VP of the Infrastructure Portfolio. Earlier in her career, Stevenson was a VP at IBM.

Intel Shuffles Management
Intel announced that Andy Bryant, 61, Intel’s Vice Chairman and Chairman-in-waiting, has assumed the Executive Chairman role. Most recently, Bryant served as the Chief Administrative Officer & EVP of Technology, Manufacturing, and Enterprise Services. During his tenure at Intel, he has also served as the Systems Group Controller, VP & Director of Finance for the Intel Products Group, and SVP & CFO of Enterprise Services. Prior to Intel, he held senior roles with Ford and Chrysler.

Microsoft Promotes Veteran to Head of Interactive Entertainment Division
Microsoft announced that Yusuf Mehdi has been appointed as the Head of Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Division. In this role, he will be responsible for Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE, and Kinect. Most recently, Mehdi served as the Chief Audience Officer for the company’s Online Services Division. Mehdi has spent more than a decade at Microsoft Online Services and has fostered strategic partnerships with Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, and Nokia. Before joining Microsoft, Mehdi was a Product Manager at Reuters Group.

New Chief Medical Officer at Dell
Dell announced that Dr. Andrew Litt has been named as the company’s new Chief Medical Officer. Most recently, Litt served as the Head of Litt Healthcare Ventures, a consulting firm for private equity firms seeking to invest in healthcare. Prior to Litt Healthcare Ventures, he was EVP, Vice Dean & Chief of Staff of New York University’s Langone Medical Center. Before assuming the title of EVP, he served as Vice Chair for Financial Affairs in the Medical Center's Department of Radiology. Litt is a Board Member of CareCore National, a company which provides utilization and quality management programs for managed care companies.

Steve Jobs Relinquishes CEO Role at Apple
Apple announced that Steve Jobs, 56, has resigned as CEO of the company. He will continue to serve the company in his new role as Chairman of the Board. Former Apple COO Tim Cook, 50, has assumed the role of CEO. Prior to joining Apple, Cook was the VP of Corporate Materials for Compaq. He came to Compaq from Intelligent Electronics, where he served as COO of the computer reseller division. Cook has also worked at IBM, most recently as the Director of North American Fulfillment.

Intel Selects New Vice Chairman
Intel announced the appointment of Andy Bryant, 61, as Vice Chairman, a newly created position on its Board. This move is designed to help facilitate Bryant’s eventual transition to the role of Chairman when Jane Shaw, the current Chairman, retires in 2012. Bryant joined Intel in 1981 and has since served as CFO, Chief Administrative Officer, and EVP. Also, he currently serves on the boards of McKesson, Columbia Sportswear, and Kryptiq.
