Procter & Gamble Co announced the appointment of Meg Whitman 54, to its board of directors. She first served on the P&G board from 2003 to 2008. She started her career as brand assistant at P&G and later moved to Bain & Co in 1981 where she worked for 8 years reaching the level of VP. She then joined Walt Disney as SVP Marketing and in 1992 accepted a senior position at StrideRite. Whitman held executive positions at Florists' Transworld Delivery (FTD) and Hasboro before taking the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at eBay in 1998. Her leadership enabled eBay to grow from $4.7 million in revenues with 30 employees to $8 billion in sales and 15,000 employees worldwide by the time she retired in 2008. She ran for Governor of California in the 2010 elections.

Apple appointed Dr. Ronald D. Sugar, 61,  former Chair and CEO of Northrop Grumman. He also held executive positions at Litton Industries and was CFO, TRW.  He is a director of Chevron, Amgen and Air Lease Corporation, and is a senior advisor to Ares Management. He holds a PhD in engineering from USC. A strong financial executive was needed to boost up the board with the death of Jerry York, 71, earlier this year.
